The new Harrier would be a great option being an Inverter Aircon.Dot wrote:Sloppy service as usual from Dometic, never had servicing / info when Ibis were in business. I would be telling them to get a unit into the country

Re: inverter air con
Dot the old "Ibis" is one of the units manufactured at the factory in Adelaide. I believe they recently sold out to Dometic and so most likely have stopped making the ones in Adelaide anyway.

I'd grab the inverter one as quick as a flash if it's a warranty job!!!

Take it...ours is working fine. The remote is rubbish, but we can live with it..brett&kat wrote:My ibis 3 air con is faulty and will be replaced under warranty. According to dometic there is no ibis 3 in the country so are wanting me to put in the new dometic harrier unit. How is everyone finding it? Still hard to find enough reviews on this unit

Re: inverter air con
Take the Harrier.
new technology, (effectively a split system on the roof.) no rattles and silent.
Actually, this is the new (old now) Australian consumer guarantee laws at work. if its a major failure and they can't fix it or replace it, , you're entitled to get the next model with similar features.
Great for TV's.

Thanks for the replys. Just waiting to hear back from them re. warranty. They want to give me the harrier unit but with the warranty, they only want to give me the last 4 months that I've got left with the ibis 3. If the harrier is that good, back the product and give me the 3 years. At worst, 2 years 4months. Thoughts?? Im not the best when it comes to consumer rights with these things, but know enough to ask questions.

Re: inverter air con
Don't worry about the warranty.
The Aust Consumer Guarantee laws should look after you.
If the harrier fails, you should be ok.
Plus, if you push to hard they might just choose to fix the old clunker..... becareful what you want.

Re: inverter air con
The Harrier should be supplied with a full warranty.
Even if they don't acknowledge that, there is a 'fit for purpose' policy. i.e. if it is fair to expect that an aircon should last fr at least 3 years....so whether they provide a 3 year warranty or not, Consumer Affairs will treat it as though it has a 3 year warranty.

Re: inverter air con
Well Dometic got back to me at long last, can't/wont give me 3 year warranty but reeled off exactly what jon_d and jon and Kay have posted. So I'm hoping that nothing goes wrong and consumer guarantee laws hold up for me. So the Harrier unit is on it's way on Monday, hopefully it's a good one. If this one shits itself, I'm going domestic system

Where are you heading to Mr Dibs? we are just starting to get some nice cool weather down in SA next week in the mid 20's. Much better than the 30's & 40's.
