Looking for a new Android Phone? Better deal?

Post by wayno »

Hi all,

I am hoping I can offer some advice and possibly remove the blinkers for some of us.

My old HTC One X was running out of steam, so I began to evaluate my next option.

Do I go for HTC again? I was not happy with it leading up to it's use by date!

While very busy at the Salt Mine, well sort of around lunch time, I decided to google some phones.

A nosy colleague asked what I was trying to find. "The best value for money Android phone I can find", was my terse answer.

His response was, "look at Xiaomi". I looked, I evaluated, and I imported one and must say, it is the best value for money item I have spent money on thus far ;) Landed price = $339aud including DHL Express.

It has got the the lot, check out the spec's on a Xiaomi Redmi Pro.

The Xiaomi Global Store web site is http://xiaomi-mi.com/

I just wished to share my experience with you.

Hopefully, you too can find the more affordable outcome as I did. 8-)

Cheers

No good if you are on Telstra as it doesn't work on the 700 band.

Mpie, great phones, had them for a couple of years, no problems whatsoever and cheap.

I looked up the 5S plus model on here http://willmyphonework.net/ and it says it will work with all carriers, the red X is where that carrier does not offer the service, not that the phone won't work with it if it was available. Certainly a good looking bit of gear for the $$ but I wouldn't have anyone to direct me through the torturous course of how to drive it

Hi Lance,

Get your head around what is coming out of China, but not here yet.

Just say,"Xomi".

I will have to say it's best attribute is value for money. Depending on the model you choose, Xiaomi offers the most up to date technology at a fraction of the price of it's competitors. Added features are awesome, love the dual lens rear camera.

How so? With some knowledge of their mindset, they will over cost the components for the Apples, Samsungs and LG's. Then subsidize they own brand.

With that in mind, I have imported a phone that would normally cost over $1000 for a third of the price at least.

Many people are prisoners of the domestic phone sales system, buy on a plan, pay x per month and suck up the interest.

NOT ME! Buying the best unlocked phone outright is the best way forward. Everytime ;)

Hello Jim.

I got a Redmi Pro 64g. All phones will be running Marshmellow.

My advice to you is to get on their site and start evaluating.

Feel free to ask for assistance, if time on my side.

Cheers
