Well we both had our eye tests today. 1 yr after my cataracts were done and I only needed a slight adjustment for my reading. George on the other hand had not had his eyes tested in 4 yrs so he needed a more updated version with his glasses :) The health fund paid for my reading glasses and also sunglasses there was no gap as bulk billed (Cost me $0 ) so happy Jan :) George decided he would have the graduated bifocals along with fancy new frames (ones with the bendy arms) so all up he paid $140 gap . Also got a further 10% staff discount because the lady serving him knew him from when he was working (1997) She also has given us our prescriptions just in case of any mishaps... (George 's consult showed he is in line for cataracts sooner rather than later) Both of us have healthy Macula's :) :)

Dot, you can put Georges script onto the zenni website and load a picture of his face.... Then scroll through all the frames and see which ones suit.

Lance, you are lucky to be able to see an ophthalmologist for glasses scripts. In NSW, the deal is, they refuse to deal with glasses scripts. They consider that this is too unworthy a task for their skills. After wasting a small fortune having all eye tests done by them, you are then sent to see any eye place ( optometrist) that will check your glasses . It stinks, but that is how they work in our state.
I am yet to see how a photo online can give you enough details for the fancy lenses that I need. And the colours of the frames cannot be definitely true. It would be my luck to receive something in a colour that I hate. So maybe I will stick to my expensive, overpriced glasses. At least I don't feel rude going back to them whenever I need to have the finickity frames adjusted to fit my face.
Enjoy your saving there Mate, just not for me.
Deborah

I did the comparison and as it turns out the $140 that G spent wasn't that much dearer than Lance & Jd's online option. If you split the $140 between the 3 sets of glasses we got between us and the better quality of his frames it comes out about $18 but we can also go back at any time for any adjustments etc. Might give them a go next yr if there is not a drastic change with the eyes.

Deb, with each appointment I see a girl to check my eyes against my last visit, all changes noted before I see 'the man'.
Then back to the waiting room with the fuzzy stuff in the eyes and wait for the eye bloke.

All the options for these things don't suit everybody.
That's OK, we're all different with different expectations.

I've been told I'm a tad more different than most................nah, surely not :o
Ohh, maybe a little................

Oh shite you are sooooooooooooo different esp with your strands on :) :) With the eye tests everything is done by machines now none of those horrid drops in the eyes either of which I am extremely happy with. :)

Bruce, good luck with the eye tests mate. Those drops are still necessary for certain eye conditions and yes, they are yucko. The other option isn't really a good one, so for the few moments of discomfort, have the test and get it over with.
Tell us how brave you were after the test mate.
