I'm really hip, now!

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

:? Hmmm... the saga continues...
Coupla weeks ago, visited the Orthopaedic Surgeon for 3-month follow-up.
Latest X-Rays show the fracture is not knitting.
His idea was to wrap the fracture in a titanium shield, but thought there had to be alternatives which did not involve 'burning bridges' for other avenues of treatment if that didn't work.
So last week I was invited to be the subject at a conf of all Orth Surgeons in the Albury area - private and public practitioners.
With the assembled dozen watched on, the O.S. gave a running commentary in 'medicalese' as I was asked to walk up & down several times, I was poked & prodded, leg rotated & stretched to the point of pain, had my shoes examined for tell-tale wear patterns, and was asked a few questions.
Upshot: Rather than wrapping it in titanium, I'm booked for surgery on 8 May to remove the existing nail, ream out the bone & insert a larger-diameter nail  with more fixing points.
The bone material reamed out will be made into a 'putty' and forced into the fracture to act as a scaffolding for the bone to grow through.
After surgery, Doc says I'll be on my feet again within 48 hours, and should be free of the wheely-walker and walking stick within a month (with physio help).
At the moment The Plan is to join Son & Heir (and his family) in Cairns for the September school hols.
Should be independently mobile by then... :D
Regards & God bless,
Ray

You never know Terry he just might get a single digit but the 8th May isn't single yet

Depends how you count it Dottie, if the book in is before 5pm on the 8th May then there is only 9 days to go ;)
