CMCA Elections 2017
Re: CMCA Elections 2017
A few observations re the protocol to be followed in the 2017 election;
- the previous Q&A section for Candidates on the CMCA Forums will not apply in this election.
- instead the club website shall contain the Q&A.
- any questions on the CMCA forum or any other facility will not be considered.
- questions need to be forwarded by email.
Well I have concerns re the possibility of transparency issues arising from this process. I think we all agree that elections for our Club are conducted in a manner least likely to give rise to possible questions of regarding impartiality of the electoral process.
Anyone care to comment?

Re: CMCA Elections 2017
typically cmca, the less the members know the better, sad Keith had to chuck it in.
Queen of the Banal & OT chatter and proud of it. If it offends you then tough titty titty bang bang.
Re: CMCA Elections 2017
Yes Dot it was indeed sad to see Keith go. I think of the old guard, who we all new and loved
, and I then compare to today's offering, sad indeed all round. And the only looser is us members, but that is hardly news is it.

Re: CMCA Elections 2017
I'd reckon there's about 80% of the members that are allowed to vote can't be bothered either!
I guess you do still enjoy a few of the benefits though?
I know I thought even the 12 issues of the Wanderer were worth the subs with the dump points thrown in as an extra...

You make some good points Bruce re the apathy voting wise. It is indeed sad that such small number of votes are required to elect Directors.
Like you, we still see value in being a CMCA member. The insurance alone , is one for us. I think the club was way better all those years ago when we joined. Still despite it's many shortcomings these days. it is still worth persevering with for us.
For those of us that maybe a little peeved, or even thoroughly delighted with the current status quo, have your say by voting. Apathy breeds opportunity, a good voter turn out breeds responsiveness.

Re: CMCA Elections 2017
This morning in a thread entitled 2017 Board Elections on the CMCA forums, I posted an invitation to a candidate asking if they would be interested in starting an unofficial thread for the purpose of taking questions from and responding to members.
A few seconds after posting my invitation at about 7am this morning, my post was promptly removed with no online notification of my post being removed/deleted.
Several hours later I received a PM from moderator 6 stating that, "Please be advised that your recent Post # 31366 is under review to determine it's suitability under the Forum User Agreement and terms as set by NHQ".
I post the above to make CMCA members aware of what is going on in our Club. What sort of organisation would seek to stifle a candidate's ability to have dialogue with members prior to an election.
I sincerely hope my post removal was due to moderator error rather than CMCA policy.
