The ones in the passenger bus fleet loved to get the selector pin out of the gate when reverse was selected if proper care was not taken resulting in a bus stuck across a road because the driver had panicked while making a 3 point turn cause he missed the street for what ever reason. Bus full of passengers and the floor has to come up to take the top of the gear selector off, select neutral, then the gears the driver was looking for so he can get it off the road, then put it all back together with 40 plus people all complaining they are now late for what ever it was they had to do.

I drove school and passenger buses for years. Then coaches out the mines for a number of years. Would prefer the urbans any day to screaming kids or whinging miners.. lol Fran ( mrs allen) Fortunately the urbans and mine coaches were well maintained so very few breakdowns. But the old school buses were forever spitting the dummy usually in very awkward places. And loaded with kids..

That was back in the early '80s and I doubt I'd get away with it these days

Definately wouldnt get away with it nowdays...I was pretty lucky never had major problems just spraying deodorant in a bus with 75 kids on board...Im very sensitive to perfumes so radioed base pulled up on side of road got out sat under a tree for half hour . Made the kids stay on board till the smell was gone...jumped back in and went on our way...fortunately it was going home so they were all late...never had that happen again...fran

Thanks all for the help finding my gearbox mounts for the Beddy. Took 3 very long days to remove the old ones and clean up and hone the bellhousing ready to press the new ones in. And what a job that was. Anyhow shes all back together and passed roadworthy with her new plates and ready to head off again in the next few days. Cheers

Well done Allen & 'helper' !! lol
I once saw a chap spend 6 days trying to replace Hendrickson bushes & finally took my advice to go get a lend of a Porta-Power ............
Another good job is removing liners out of a diesel engine! (without the proper equipment)

I bought a puller which worked on 1 bellhousing bush. Then just made a puller up out if a bit of threaded rod as didnt have enough room to use the puller. That bit of threaded rod was a life saver. Which in the end I changed and used to push all the new bushes back in. Worked a treat.
