Haven't done a back up on the computer for over a month so I figure it's about time I did.
I normally do an incremental backup but I'd like to do a full back-up this time.
Does anyone use a method to clone/image their computer to save doing re-installation of programs ?
What's involved ?
Time for a back-up,,,,,,,Cloning ?

Clonezilla is what you need, It's easy to use and will clone your entire drive if you want. I use it to clone my linux box and give a copy to friends, but using linux, just have my files on a separate portable drive to carry with me on the road for the laptop. There are other imaging software around but clonezilla seems to be the easiest and best, it works well with win7, but have heard others have had problems with win10.Lance wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2017 10:00 pm Haven't done a back up on the computer for over a month so I figure it's about time I did.

Bernie, backing up you computer means you make a copy of all your files and put them on another drive, preferable separate to your computer, that means if your computer crashes you will still have a copy of your files safe. Cloning is when you make a mirror image of your entire system, put it on either a dvd or usb stick, so if it breaks you can reload the clone and lose nothing.

In brief ....
1. Determine the exact hard drive you already have. (Device manager?)
2. Buy another identical drive. (Ebay?)
3. Pop it in one of your spare bays in the computer & hook it up.
4. Install & run "EaseUS Todo Backup" (Free) to make an exact copy. https://www.easeus.com/backup-software/tb-free.html
5. Swap drives weekly, daily or monthly as you wish.
6 For laptops I use one of these. (or desktop) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HDD-Docking- ... SwiwVWSXDY

I do have a spare disc drive thingy , I bought it on the trip down south a cuppla years back , I only bought it because I had some trouble with my laptop screen not always working . Fix it people suggested I buy one in case the lap top looses every thing when they did the repair, which I did . Nothing was lost when laptop repaired and haven't seen a need to use it again . Its still outside in the bus .
Nothing valuable on my computer I do save my photos onto a speed stick thingy . (occasionally)
Bernie .
