I spoke to Rick, contestant No3, yesterday and he told me that he had paid for and signed the proof for an ad in The Wanderer which included his Facebook page link but when it was printed his it was omitted. He feels that it was removed because the address included the characters CMCA. That would also explain the missing link from the CMCA website.

I am no bush lawyer but if Candidate 3 has had his advertisement altered by the publisher under instructions from a third party then I would suspect the publishers actions could be unlawful. I wonder if Candidate 3 is able to provide some confirmation of who did what.
The company owns the adverts in it's publications, it's not a public magazine, but a corporate one. They can do what they like with it or whatever is in it and no one can stop them. That's why they turned it into a company, it turns members into nothings and they are able to alter whatever is put forward for publication without redress of any sort, except for defamation and slander.
Members of CMCA have to realise the board can reverse any decision, do what they like and non one can stop them, except for passing a no confidence motion in the board and that is extremely hard to get up when they control everything. They can even determine who can run for the board if they wanted to, be applying certain corporate rules to nominations and voting.
Until everyone understands they are not dealing with a club, but a company and have to approach it in that way, it will remain the same. To be honest after being out of it for a few years, don't see any benefits in being a member, after more than 4 decades of travelling, there are many places for waste disposal, wonderful free camps and no crowds around the country. Always been welcomed into towns and the same goes for most MH owners I know, it's caravans that seem to have problems for some reason and you do tend to see the results of that.

If what you say is correct native pepper, would it not be incumbent on the publisher to inform advertisers beforehand that their advertisements could be amended by an employee of the company (the Club) without any reference/authorisation to the person/business placing the advertisement? Where are our legal eagles?
Surely if the ad was altered following approval of the proof without the advertisers knowledge then at least, a refund of the $900+ should be forthcoming.

George I think the Publisher ought to be in direct negotiations with the advertiser (Candidate 3) to resolve what clearly is a massive cockup. In my view at the very least, either a refund ought to be forthcoming or the ad is run again at no charge.
Both the Publisher and the Candidate are the losers here I think. The Publisher in that, what confidence are advertisers henceforth going to have that their advertisements will not be altered without any reference. The Candidate in that, the advertisement was clearly part of their election strategy, paid for, and apparently altered without their knowledge.
Northwithstading native pepper's comments on the Wanderer being a corporate publication and therefore subject to any action by the company (the Club) whatsoever, I think any fair minded CMCA member would be concerned that this alleged action has apparently occurred without any reference to Candidate 3 whatsoever.
We are in the midst of the rough and tumble of an election campaign. For a Candidate's paid election advertisement to be altered by the Company (the Club) without any apparent reference to the Candidate is very disturbing to say the least. I think the members deserve an explanation for what has allegedly happened.
