Bloodshot moon?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Bloodshot moon?

Post by BruceS »

Just happened to look out the front door a while ago & I saw the moon looking like it had one big hangover.
Poor thing!! 8-)

A few minutes later it cleared up as it rose above the tree! ;) :P

Fascinating stuff up there isn't it Bruce ?
Any idea what time I can expect the moon over here in dark and dim Melbourne.
A bit of clear sky and I'll give my new telescope a burl out in the yard. 8-)

About 20 minutes before I saw it!!!
Seeing as you have the Dandenong Ranges out in front of you it SHOULD be up by now?

I picked up a Newtonian scope from a bloke who was given it but had no idea what to do with it.
I bought it, so now I have no idea what to do with it
Lots of educational stuff about so it shouldn't be too long a learning curve.
It's certainly not 'top end' equipment but as a starter unit it will do.

I'd best put this info in the Telescope thread I started hey 8-)

Bruce, This is for you from NSW.
On the 31st of July:

This beautiful time-lapse rise of the Full Moon was captured at Cape Byron Lighthouse, on Belongil Beach, Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia.

The head land and lighthouse at Byron Bay is the most easterly point of the Australian Mainland And therefore is the first place in Australia to watch the full moon rise.

This video is made up of 1038 frames and slowed down to as close to real time as possible. The photographer has been working on perfecting this type of time lapse for over a year now after seeing the work of his favourite photographer Mark Gee.

Don't forget to breathe watching this majestic time-lapse; everything about it is just perfect, and it's a photography clinic for anyone Interested in taking time-lapse.

Possibly, the most beautiful moonrise time-lapse you'll ever see....
