I'm in the process of processing a variation of the Orange Cake.
I't's gonna be a bit different I think but until it comes out of the oven I don't know just how different or what direction that difference will take.

40mins should see all revealed :?

Still waiting...???

Mine was good texture etc but lacked the sugar hit, even with butter, wacked some of that Frog apricot jam on it, (the one in a tall jar) and that made it...

So next one I will use orange blossom honey for the sweet hit...!!!

Here ya go, couldn't post pics last night, camera battery blew up.......

Anyway, I did a bit of fiddlin with the recipe, as I generally do but it turned out orlrite....... 8-)
Wasn't game to use butter 'cos I didn't know how much to use so just splashed the oil in.
Used S/R flour and added a handfull of coconut.

Ohh yeah, no oranges/mandies so used lemons but should have doubled up on them.

I had it cranked up to 180 and yeah, it might've been in a tad too long.
It is a 'bit' dry but not real bad.
Anne makes a good lemon spread thingo and it works well on this.

My oven has the fan tingo but I didnt use it this time, and the thing is gas...

In my days of installing gas ovens, or takin em out... all the cake cooks that reckon they were worth two bob said electric ovens were best cos the thermos were more accurate and gas was a bit all over the joint...

But ya soon get to know that 180 on ours = 200 on the knob...and so on

vik... anuder one next week... ;)
