Solar thermal power systems store energy for overnight use in very large salt containers, the sun is directed to a point where it super heats a liquid to steam and that drives generators.

Excess is stored as heat in salt and they can store it to about 1400degC, which is when the salt turns to liquid. Then at night and when the sun don't shine, they convert that heat to steam and keep generating.

Read some where they can run for days on the salt stored heat and can even use Stirling engine generation, by using the excess heat to drive the Stirling engines when the salt reaches it's upper temperatures. Of course we will have to see if it can really work in the long term, maybe they can use below ground heat to compensate if need be.

Seems he can now command the sun to shine at night as well ?
Hey, do you think old Jo had a monopoly on the sun shining out of his backside???? At least the SA premier is willing to stay up at night for the good of the states power grid

Camped up beside the Avon River near Toodyay and the signs say the water isn't even safe for skin contact and the fish are also off the menu..... WTF???? How can any govt allow that sort of river contamination and yet allow that to flow into other areas and eventually the ocean. There are signs that show there was once a race down this river that drowned a few so it can't have always been unsafe for skin contact or poisonous

I would think the contamination is from fertiliser run-off from farm fertiliser as a result of the rain we've been having.

Did you notice we have been having some rain?......and wind? :D :D

Lake Liddell near Muswellbrook NSW has been closed to all water sports including fishing and swimming forever due to bacterial contamination caused by the lake's temperature remaining at a high level for extended periods. There are signs all around the shore with health warnings.

It's quite disappointing in any event, however bear in mind that the subject river dries up to small unconnected cesspools in Summer. The signs at these camps are permanently erected and I suspect the warning is not relevant right now. Consider that the Avon Descent was run just last weekend, and the contestants would have been soaked with the river water.

They're not bad camps... I would have suggested them if I knew you were going that far out of town. Did the trains keep you awake? [emoji577]

Cheers,

I didn't realize T1 & Margaret were 'doing over' the whole state in a week or two but at the speed he gets around nothing would be possible!!!
Only hope he doesn't try the GRR across the desert!! :o
Terry the trip up Greenmount should have dried the clutch out a bit? lol
