Sounds like a bloody good reason to get rid of Telstra and windows, get a decent Ph supplier and safe, stable, non intrusive OS that you have control over and not anyone that wants it.

Chick, definitely take the computer to a reputable place and get it checked for any other gateways that the crooks may have opened from their remote settings. You can't be too careful and no you were not stoopid, just taken for a ride by a really good con artist. Let the authorities deal with them.

Already done Deb, had both computers checked/cleaned by a professional bloke in Bathurst that the youngest daughter's partner uses for his business computers... he even had one of those ransom demands on his recently - then he got the Bathurst bloke onto the job. No ransom paid.

I think we're being a little paranoid at the moment about this problem... every time I go to use the computer I wonder if there still monitoring it... & had a couple of warnings come up... one from the new security system we've installed & another from Firefox about links I was about to check out, stating they had suspicious activity on them.

Grrr...
