Is it a disaster ?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Is it a disaster ?

Post by Lance »

............or Mother Nature claiming back what was/is hers ?

Please, I am not trying to make light of the devastation been placed on so many around the world at the moment due to 'natural disasters' but I must ask if we, as communities, are the majority of the cause........

I read today that since the '50, 88sq miles of Houstons Wetlands have been 'claimed' for development.
Nature taking back what is hers.

Avalanches, floods, drought, mudslides, and so many other natural occurrences are called disasters.
Yes, to those affected they are, and they have my utmost sympathy, but isn't it about time we all started to think about how we treat this Earth of ours ?
We only have one chance to keep it liveable. So far we've done OK, but things seem to be falling apart as we demand so much more from our scarce resource.

We need to have a rethink about our development processes I think.

Mother nature is trying to teach the human race a few lessons but we will not listen so let her do her thing.

I remember the old song about build on the rock and not upon the sand.
We have all been taught to respect the earth, it's just a shame that the mighty dollar somehow interferes with some people's common sense.

Look at how many homes are built here along cliffs right beside the ocean and they blame the council when the ocean claims back the cliffs.

Lance you are right, but stating the obvious wont stop the morons from doing as they please.

They keep telling us there is no climate change, when the viewable facts are the opposite. Read a report where they say these natural occurrences will get worse each year until it become to hard to live, or the causes of these changes are removed. Don't hold your breath waiting for any change to a decent approach to the future, when the average person takes no responsibility for their foot prints on the planet and is in denial of their role.

OK, all those that think the end is nigh please step off now & leave it all to me ........
These disasters have been happening for eons.......... the only difference now is the Internet, TV & "instant Fake News" we're fed every second of our existence!!
What upsets me more is the fact the "freedom From Hunger" campaigns are aimed at the ones breeding like flies in countries that don't have a hope in hell of ever feeding them.
I was brought up on a farm where is was the responsibility of the owner to ensure enough feed for them and to ensure they were safe from fires, floods or theft etc etc
OK, rant over......

This land prolly was lush and green 200 odd years ago when the first mob lobbed, why else would ya build and farm there...???

Mr Goyder would have been a interesting bloke to have had a chat to...!!! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goyder%27s_Line )

The planet changes it's weather all the time, I read the other day they found a 1890's couple frozen to death preserved in a glacier that is now receding again back to what it was when these two went walkabout back then...

This is the facts here...
