Speeding tickets

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Speeding tickets

Post by nedskelly »

We have been at our daughters place outside Cessnock since beginning November. Our bus was in dock getting another engine fitted in Rutherford Maitland, the journey from workshop to daughters is about 35 minutes and 1 section goes through a small town on the NE highway, there are several speed zones some with cameras. I negotiated these without problem until the day we got the bus back, 24th Dec and bingo an expensive picture with double demerits 6, we were in the ute. Spent a week at Tamworth CM festival and when we got home yesterday another notice this time in the bus on the 27th Dec, more expensive same place and another 6 demerits.
I have written to the authorities asking for leniency on the first but that wont work on the 2nd, if it works on the first. The $$$ are bad enough but the demerits could cost licence and this becomes a major problem as we live in the bus.
Is there an avenue to appeal these things and get the penalties changed, ie get the fine increased to maintain a licence.
I did numerous trips across this road and it is a worry that there might be another/more tickets on the way. Got me buggered I negotiated it for 2 months and then 2 pics in 3 days.
Regards
Gary

Maybe let Trish wear the demerit points for the ute and you can wear the points for the bus?

And if you do lose your licence, hopefully only for a short while. You could sit by a river, dam or lake to pass the time!!!!

However, it would be a pain in the proverbial.

How many times have you been pulled up by the police and had your licence checked?

And if it looks like you are going to lose your licence, try and get your bus to a long term camp and last but not least, maybe Trish could learn to drive the bus.

Good luck Gary

Oh dear!!! So who's been a naughty boy then?
It's a terrible feeling really because in most cases we drive to suit the condition and not so much to suit the stupid speed limit. (at times)
I have no problem if it's peak hour, school kids around and in a (real) builtup area & I get caught doing 80km/hr in a 25km/hr school crossing.
I very much doubt you'll do much good trying to get a reprieve. To do that you'd have to not pay it & let it go to court. Chances are it'd cost double & longer license loss anyway.
You could chat to a solicitor but that'll cost you anyway!

{silly offer deleted!!}

Hi Gary.
In Vic if you loose the full quota or points you can elect /apply to save your licence, but if you get caught for anything within the next 12 months they take it off you and hit you with a bigger fine and a longer suspension.

Garry
I know you are eating yourself up because that is what we do, :( this advice may or may not help this is what I was told by a police officer, If you have a good driving record preferable a clean sheet, pay the fine write a letter to the address on the fine admitting you are at fault and because of your good driving record ask for leniency, it worked for me.

In your case if I am right you have had a lot of medical problems & expense's ? the motor home being your residence now needing a new motor, another expense, driving in an unfamiliar area, when asking for leniency perhaps offer to do some community service instead of loosing your lic, equal consideration (like you are willing to give to receive) I believe it is worth the effort, nothing ventured nothing gained,

In other words Gary, grovel, crawl, make promises you know you can't keep, cry a little and blame the wife :P If all else fails change your nationality and don't speak English OR complain that you are being targeted by a certain policeman.. Looks like that little town has a nasty copper there looking for a promotion..Good luck anyway.

I wouldn't hold my breath for leniancy in a double demerit time frame as they promote them fairly well in the media . Good luck with it.
