Re: CMCA board results
CMCA have volunteer state reps., in every state working to get RV friendly towns, dump points etc., if you don't want to be a member that fine but don't knock the club all the time, no offence meant to you Terry but it does get boring, you surely have more in your life to think about than the CMCA.

Re: CMCA board results
Easily explained in Social Psychology theory. When a group you are a member of is subject a negative attitude, the "attack" is taken personally and ego defence is triggered. A minor example of this is seen when those who do not own a qualifying vehicle (campervan or MH) bitch about not having voting rights in CMCA matters. Core membership of the CMCA belongs to those who do have qualifying vehicles and those members are most likely to have the strongest reaction to criticism of the club or of club rules.

Re: CMCA board results
Shirley, was a member for years before the club became a company, then the club completely changed and we had no say whatsoever in any thing. We left, yet they still send us reminders, which is a waste of share holders money. Most of the places we stay at, have had no association with CMCA, yet have excellent facilities and very welcoming for travellers. The best facilities we use, are for self contained only vehicles, even though they have all the facilities available and after more than 50 years of travelling constantly, in my opinion the CMCA since becoming a company has lost it's way completely. That's why we are no longer members, it's just not inclusive enough, elitist and not even representative of real travellers in any way.
The low turn out to vote, is representative of how members see it and most I talk to, are only in it for the insurance, which I'm told can be obtained cheaper else where and our insurance seems cheaper than what KT can provide, so others have told us in the past.

Hi Iza, I'm a bit confused by this bit, do all the board members actually own qualifying vehicles?Izabarack wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2017 7:05 amEasily explained in Social Psychology theory. Gary Rebgetz does not but he is a life member and therefor doesn't need one.

Re: CMCA board results
ummmm.......... and this was decided by a member vote or a board room vote? Wouldn't such a thing require a 70% majority vote? Kinda rules out the membership thing eh, no way you could get a 70% voter turn out so no way you could get a 70% majority

Native pepper we are like you have notched up 50 years of travel in this great country, we are self contained, mostly free or budget camp, we have been members of the CMCA for about 15 yrs & yes it has changed but as I posted before what hasn't changed in that time, we still feel in our opinion the club / company is working to improve RV travel Australia wide.

70% of those present at the AGM Terry.
Interesting that most comments on this thread are from self professed non members. You could always join and work for change if you are not keen on current direction

Re: CMCA board results
People have short memories when it suits?
There is a group of us on this forum & elsewhere that WERE members and we did want to desperately change the direction of the organisation.
The only way to get it 'done' was to band together and try to gain as much support as we could to get a person elected that would change that direction and rid the club of a couple of directors who were quite sure they owned the club.
As soon as this group banded together to achieve this, they were branded as "rebel raisers" and denigrated in no uncertain terms.
Yep, change is possible but at most of our ages, is it worth the effort?
In my case and several others I know .......... it wasn't.
Thanks for your effort Keith! We did get you there!!
Enough of this.......... not many years left to get out there & do it............!!
