I have lights down the middle in a piece of timber I made just wide enough so I did not have to cut sheets, idea similar to Mikes, I put a small piece on the side, did not have to cut sheets longways at all. Just slid it up so one edge sat on the timber ledge and put a screw in the other.
Used pan head metal self tappers, took out once hole was made and squirted a bit of Selleys Armourflex (or similar) into the hole (small bit)
This does 2 things, it spreads on the inside and lightly adheres the sheet to the frame at that point and the stuff picked up on the threads ensures the screw will not rattle out, but does come out when you need it to.
Pic is of sheets in bedroom sitting on the centre wood, LED strip lights are running the length of the wood, reflect down from the ceiling
