Funny that, the Prius has the same problem, not the drive battery but the crap 12v lead acid battery, nothing works without that being charged. Finally gave up on the things dieing and fitted an E Bay rescued 50Ah lithium battery that Officer Dribble gave me last time we met up over in WA. Fits the battery hole with room to spare and works a treat cause it doesn't care that the system doesn't fully charge it each time, it was the sulphating from being under charged that was killing the lead acid batteries.
I gotta EBII Ford available if ya wanna swap the Beemer for that ;) Only got 200,000km on the clock..... same as when I got it :lol:
