I wouldn't mind seeing another pic of that ship heading the other direction after it had been loaded. I reckon it would be a tad lower in the water.
One day I will go and explore Newcastle properly and see if the Parthtenon Cafe is still there. It was in about '76 when the Bob Hudson song came out.

Re: New Newcastle Track
They no longer cruise down Hunter street cause it's now the Hunter Street Mall.... for reasons that will become obvious later in the song...... loved that LP, what a charactersupersparky wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 5:37 pm I wouldn't mind seeing another pic of that ship heading the other direction after it had been loaded. Didn't get to see any of the racing, busy here on Sat and a quick job at Port Lincoln Sunday. Maybe there will be low lights on You Tube suitable for later viewing when we get home to the better download capacity.

Over one hundred and ninety thousand through the turnstiles over the three days had no trouble parking Shirley so the public transport system now in place certainly worked

Re: New Newcastle Track
Wasn't it great to see Reynolds win driver of the year instead of that other Holden driver who was stupid enough to jump in the fountain.

Re: New Newcastle Track
Mike daughter in law use to have a 20 minute walk into her workplace in inner Newcastle everyday they certainly needed to do something about the parking situation.
Why would anyone pay at a parking station to shop in Newcastle when you can shop at Garden City or Kotara Fair as I still often call it or Charlestown shopping centre for free, no wonder it became a ghost town.

Re: New Newcastle Track
You are so right there Shirley. That end of Newcastle is very dead, along with most of the town. Certainly would prefer to shop anywhere but Hunter Street. Once the old co-op store closed, it seemed to mark the beginning of the end.
Funny how Kotara Fair is the right name for that shopping centre.... wasn't broken, so it didn't need to be fixed.
Sorry for being a bit parochial here, but visitors to the town must wonder where the real Newcastle has gone.
