ACCC action against Jayco

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Not good but I guess if it was only 4 out of all sales then it's not so big for them.

Yeah, I think Jayco will do all they can to right things now, although that should of course happened much earlier.
Other builders will also be affected and many won't be in as strong a position to recover as Jayco will.
We could see a few go to the wall over this action. Time will tell.

In conjunction with this court action, the ACCC is urging all caravan manufacturers to review their complaints handling processes to ensure that they comply with the ACL consumer guarantees.

The ACCC is moving though industries. The did the PC and Printer industry a few years again and it was a costly process for many suppliers.

It looks like its the RV industries turn. The blow torch will be on them now.

Bruce - it may be 4 that have the $$$$$$$ and stamina ( which you do need for cases like this - been there dun that ) to persist with this court action

They , Jayco , apparently claim a 98% customer satisfaction,
Now as we know figures are rubbery , so it could mean ALL 98% are happy, or, Some of that 98% failed to persist with their claims due to many reasons.
( notice I failed to say $$$ )LOL
So that leaves the 2% that spent huge dollars, sometimes more than the towing vehicle, out in the cold with a van that's either untowable or unlivable .

But as an action against the Caravan Industry I can only applaud the action as it will make a few cowboys disappear and the Genuine Manufacturers look to their game ..

I agree Ron. I was just trying to water my comments down a weeny bit to head off the slander or libel case!
As you've no doubt noticed, the CF has pulled that report under the guise of "No naming or shaming" ........

.........and Rick (WOETC) has just opened it again.....and now it's also been locked.
I don't believe it should have been pulled, it should have been controlled, as I'm sure you will do with this thread. ;)

This sort of topic can be discussed sensible if it's done by sensible ppl in a sensible manner keeping in mind rules and regs.

This is a good thing for all of us caravan owners. Mr Jayco can afford the court costs, and it should make all caravan builders wake up to their obligations. I can think of many caravan owners who have had huge issues with their vans. It isn't just the one brand, but all of them.

The thing that has always stayed with us, as jayco owners has been the way they have honoured any claims that we have made, even when out of the original warranty time. So the 4 complainants may have just had crappy dealerships to deal with, or they have had a very bad run with the company. Let the courts do their research and in depth questioning and let's see how this pans out.

Thanks for not being so closed minded as to hide this page. Being honest and respectful is the right way to discuss this event.
