Lance wrote: Sat Dec 02, 2017 11:26 pm I guess there are good and bad adaptors, but the one with this unit is rather loose fitting to the GPO and gets warm quickly.
I'm not keen on using it so i wanna flick it.
I think I'll cut the EU plug off the cable tomorra and replace it with an AU
I just tape them both together using electrical tape, seems a lot of electrical goods are coming into Aus with those plugs and thought it was illegal to import appliances that don't conform to Aus standards.
I've actually done that NP but the weight of the plug and adaptor hanging out of the GPO pulls it down and I have noticed the adaptor getting warm. That's the bit that concerns me so I'd like to flick the adaptor.

The heat press is working fine so I assume the EU plug is OK.
Is it just a matter of cutting the EU plug off and fitting a new AU plug ?

Agree with you on heating up and pulling out of sockets, the vacum cleaner was the main one that does that for us. Getting 3 pin plugs seems to be a problem, had to buy my last few from china at $3 each and going to buy some more. Have found with many 240v tools. the end of the plugs collapse after awhile and the wiring breaks, which seems to becoming a big problem in the electric stuff we now have to buy from overseas.

Best way is to just fit a AU plug. No problem :)

Is it the plug with 2 straight pins rather than 2 pins at an angle to each other so they fit in an Aussie power point? I just grab the pliers and bend the pins till they match up with an extension cord socket (one not plugged in of course) and that seems to work just fine. All the 240vac chargers for the single cylindrical lithium cells I bought on Deal Extreme came with the straight pin plugs and none of them have suffered any ill effects with the pin reshaping. Have to do the same for the proper plugs quite often after bouncing around in the trailer on the rough roads, they end up a bit bent and need an adjustment to get them to plug in again.
No doubt I'll go straight to hell for suggesting such blasphemous plug tampering, but I was probably headed that way before so it won't change things much eh

This EU plug had 2 round pins.
I'm not keen on the 'bending & twisting' anymore.......me or the plug.....
I caught a sparky over the road this morning, asked him about it, and he offered to swap it for an AU plug.
He said there was no issue in changing it over but it was gonna cost me $10, including the new plug.
I thought that was a reasonable deal and all is well and happy now.
