Roberts 2017 return trip

Post by RobertNotBob »

Morning we will be heading back to Queensland this morning. Being laid low with a chest infection which will no go away I was unable to visit any one while here. Will be back as grannie wants more time with daughter and offspring.

This morning we are heading to Woodside for a quick visit to pick up some wine from Art Wine for the son. Then on to look at the John S Christian reserve on Black Hill Rd before spending the night around Locton North for a few drinks with a friend.

It will then be across to look at the wheat silos north of Hay before spending a few days in Canberra with the son and his girlfriend.

Then home so we can have a few days together before the wife starts work. Trust the return is uneventful not like the run down.

This is what happens when your tyre goes at 100klm/hr

Camping the night at Lyrup $5 night with power if you score one of the four power sites. Council has done good work here since last year with expanding, fill and leveling the site. Three other vans and a motor home here. Very pleacant on the grass area with a nice cool breeze. Beats sitting in the van that is for sure

Called into the John S Christian reserve and was not that impressed. In fact disappointed as I had seen some excellent photos from a few months back.

Had some friends from North Loxton came by for a extended happy hour. Good to catch up with old friends and chat with a couple from one of the other vans.

Tomorrow on to Weethalle, NSW to look at the silos there, then on to Canberra.

Thank you Dot, yesterday was a straight run to look at the silos at Weethalle, NSW very nice indeed.

We then went through to a stop about 31k north of Wylong, stopped here on the way down but they have had a fair bit of rain so I did not drive further along the river but stayed on the hard not far from the road but down a bit. Traffic noise was minimum but who can complain when it is free.

Today a short drive to Binalong where we will stay with some friends on their property then onto Canberra new years day to spend some time with our son.

Set of late morning for a slow drive to Binalong on Sunday, pleasent day. Stopped at a few small towns before arriving early afternoon. Friends had a place on the highest hill just out of town on 30 acres. Town had their Christmas party so we went to the pub for a couple of beers then back to the house to finish the wine.

Good night sleep and a easy drive into Canberra. Today Monday.

Part of the property we stayed at, only took the one shot as we drove out. Will have to get a few more when we return.

Well mum wanted another day with the son so we had a quite day in Canberra and will pick the van up tomorrow and continue our journey. Notice that storms have again gone through the Glasshouse Mountains so expect a few days of tidying the yard when we get home.

The photo shows the view from my son's apartment verandah. The Canberra Exibition Park is behind the trees to the left of the photo.

That's a great shot of the Wheat silos. I think the worst part of those storms were a bit further west. Your yard might have been lucky.
Cheers
