Animal Cruelty?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Animal Cruelty?

Post by mottleemob »

With all the hot weather we have had recently it made think about people walking their dogs in extreme heat. The owner has shoes on to protect their feet on the hot asphalt BUT the poor dog has to suffer. IMO this equates to animal cruelty what are your thoughts?

absolutely.
The people that put their dogs on the back of utes don't think about the dogs feet on the hot steel.

Tried walking a dog on a surface that is too rough or hot or even too cold for their feet or where there are bindies? I know Crunchie will head for the grass or simply carry on like she was being tortured till she is pick-up if the ground isn't to her liking. Only dogs that were trained to obey their master no matter what would suffer such conditions and then it really is a case of animal cruelty because the dog knows that to not suffer that pain then even worse pain would be inflicted. Whether physically or mentally, it is still a form of abuse

"tanks" here---
A few days past and I posted this note on the forum but it has not appeared, so this is another posting.
My neighbours large dog wanders over to my front lawn and sits in the shade of a tree. The members who have visited THE BUNKER will know the dog I am talking about. He is a placid/timid/good natured dog and no trouble to me or "Mr. Russell". With the heat wave up here at the "DYSART BUNKER" area, I decided to put a 10 litre bucket of water under the tree so as he could have a drink when he is visiting.

I filled the bucket from the laundry trough and when I was carrying it down the passage way [ just near the kitchen/dining room] the bloody handle broke and the plastic split in half; dropping the 10 litres of water onto the carpet.

It caused mad panic and frantic action on my part to get towels to soak up the flood. "Mr.Russell" helped by sitting in the water for me so as it would not escape before I could mop it up with the towels. He though it was a great game and tried to help me with one of the towels, which resulted in me chasing him around the lounge room to recover the now wet towel.

I have now ordered another 3 plastic 10 litre buckets from Coles On-Line (90cents each) to be delivered on Monday. I will replace all of the existing buckets as they are several years old.
I used to have a few buckets filled with water, and ready for use in case of fire, when camped for a few days along the road.
On my inspection after the BUNKER flood; they are all very brittle even though they look ok, hence the replacement.

I have now used a 2 litre ice cream container under the tree for the dog to have a drink. I probably should have just given the dog a WEIS BAR to cool him down.

So Members----if you have plastic buckets in your travel kit do replace them before they fall apart.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.
