Hi Bernie, you probably know that I only poke my head here once in a while, & it has indeed been a while since last time, but I was 'alerted' to your 'travelling prescence' by a comment in your email. It's great that you are both on the road long term & living the dream. Sorry we won't be able to catch up in Tassie, we'll just have to wave to each other as we pass in the night between Devonport & Melbourne. You probably didn't need that aircon. In the time we've been in Tassie (since beginning of December) I think we've only had two days over 25deg!
Safe & happy travels to you both.

Bernie and Carols "NEW" adventure
Re: Bernie and Carols "NEW" adventure
Hi all , thanks Cuppa . We have moved from the Ovens river into Yarrawonga (on a powered site) Carol finally got feed up with the heat and the dust .
We couldn't keep the windows open because of the local drivers who have no consideration for others the dust from them was horrific , and with the temps in the 30's each day made the inside a bit/alot unconfutable . She's loving the new aircon . We still have just under 3 weeks before the boat trip so we will remain here for one of those weeks before moving further south . Not a lot of free camps down the Hume Hwy tell me if you know of some .
There is a "freeby" 24Ks from where we are now and will no doubt go there next its a 7 day'er ., so will burn another week off the a gender .
taking the car into town today its dirty as , so it will get a clean at the car wash .
The other reason for moving was I was running out of battery power we only got half of the sunlight because of the trees around and mainly after lunch then if the wind blew as it almost surly did we got less with the swaying trees . I couldn't get the batteries past 13.1 so never made it to full .
Now the next in our sager of bad luck , the bus wouldn't start just click click , so I was going the have to buy two more batteries...or so I thought I did price battery replacements in Wangaratta but didn't buy just then . I decided to take the offending batteries out so I could take one with me to buy replacement . And guess what the earth strap fell apart as I remover it....so off to town and bought a new one , reassembled batteries and wamo bus started as it normally done . Made me a happy chappie...finally a win..
All for now .
Bernie .

Re: Bernie and Carols "NEW" adventure
Bernie, there are many free parking places down the Hume, you have to get well away from it to find them. Your best bet is to investigate little towns, then ask a local is there is anywhere you can park over night. You will find most have places to park and they are happy to let you know, as it means more business for them.
As you are in Yarrawonga, when you leave, drop into Tungamah, they have excellent power and facilities for travellers down by the lagoon and tennis courts. Its free unless you want the showers turned on, then they may charge you $10. The pub is a great place, for a cold beer and a good chat.
If you are going through Wangarrata, Boorhamam is the place to stop for a night or two at the golf course. You either ask at the pub, or ring the secretary, who will come and switch the power on for you. They charge $10 a night and have hot showers and it's quiet and pretty.
Can give you some other places all round Vic and Tas when you get down here, if you like.

Thanks native pepper we will be going to Tungamah from here .
That's when we leave Yarrawonga I mean , we will check out the site Helen has supplied just up a bit from here .
If its ok ( as long as no dust) we can chew off a bit more of this waiting time before getting on SOT for the trip .
Will be in touch at some stage when we get down to Tassie .

Hume Highway? You have a death wish Bernie?
OK, it's much better these days but why not go out through Bendigo & wander down that way?
Muckinup is out there too........ ask Cuppa?
