I have a Cochlear Implant in the L ear and a Phonak H/A in the R.
The Phonak was replaced 18mths ago after the dog chewed it.
Was quoted $3100 from 1 place, got it for $1650 from another.
Could have got it for $475 from India but wanted it replaced quickly so paid the $1650.
It was an Insurance claim and was paid without issues.

Re: Half past 2
I was just really angry that an aussie firm saw nothing wrong with such a markup. I found an indian supplier, but the korean shop I went through were really helpful. Even buying the extras like batteries, end pieces etc does not justify it. I also wanted to be able to get what looked like one of the best units. Its hard at work when you miss so much of what is being said. Will have to go to the pub to check the noise factorLance wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2018 7:21 pm I have a Cochlear Implant in the L ear and a Phonak H/A in the R.

Worked for me...I could even understand the scottish bar staff. Not once did she have to repeat herself.

Phonax, the main bit sits on top of the earlobe and a very thin wire to the speaker that goes in the ear. Had issues with the original rubber plug that seals the speaker in the ear canal and had insert pieces moulded to match my ear canal and the speaker unit fits into them.dapope wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2018 6:25 pm You on the oticons Terry?
Mine wont stream to and from the phone direct, only because android isnt up to it. The fruity stuff works though
I have a device coming yo get around that. Am only on day 2 of having these, been much easier to hear stuff today though. Tv is now down a number of notches. I know exactly what you mean about crowds. These are supposed to be a massive improvement. Will find out soon enough. Half the size of the old ones too.
Technology is marvellous..
These were so new when I got them beginning of Oct last yr that any info needed had to be via email back to the factory. The auto tune programs and custom fix programs that came out around Dec sorted a lot of the hash/static noise and sudden noise level changes like walking out of the audio clinic and into the busy shopping mall. Gotta tell you, that was a real shock cause I went in there wearing my old hearing aids that were top of the line 10 yrs ago. One of the biggest changes was being able to hear dizzy blondes and small children again as their voices are in a range I have near total hearing loss. No idea if it simply changes that frequency to one I can hear or just how it's done, but I no longer miss the bits in that part of the sound range any more.
You don't realise it has gone until you get some of it back, the click of a switch, that very quiet beep to say something is ready to use or is about to shut down. Things my brain had to learn to ignore again, like a fridge starting up, the sound you make every time you move or take a step, the sound is still there but it doesn't come as an alert anymore if you know what I mean
