Anti Syphoning Device

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Anti Syphoning Device

Post by mottleemob »

Years ago you could buy a spring device to fit in the filler neck of your car to stop fuel theft . Does anyone know what they are called? Yes I have been hit 3 times in the last couple of months. The fuel lock has been playing up and doesn't lock sometimes : :x

Back in the 80's, all of the Honda range had a similar type of gizmo in the fuel fill line. They were impossible to syphon. From memory it was a cross/ plus looking thing that was fitted into the fill line just before the fuel tank, which in those days sat under the back floor or back seat.

Once all the filler necks had anti syphon devices fitted they moved on to a stick with a nail, a block of wood for the pivot point and a bowl and simply punched a hole in the fuel tank. What they couldn't collect simply flowed out on the ground and added a fire risk to the problem.
A better move would be a movement detector wired to a flood light,a loud screamer siren, a video camera and an angry barking dog play back loop. The one visit to the fuel flap will be enough to put the word out throughout the community that there are easier targets.
Unfortunately it will also deter anyone from stealing the vehicle, but then being a Jeep there is probably a fee involved for such a service anyway ;)
I remember the old taunt, how do you double the value of a Lada? Fill the fuel tank

Maybe the filler neck needs to be rerouted into a jerrycan full of sugary petrol under the vehicle?

"Yeah mate, take all of that you want... " 🤣
