New Upholstery Shed

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

New Upholstery Shed

Post by Riverlander »

New upholstery shed tanking shape. This moving house and trying to retire sure causes a lot of work. Concrete coming next week.

That went up quite fast, well done. Have to christen it when the weather is warm again. How are the works going on with the little house?

So Riverlander...??? need a new jobbie in the new shed...???

I have an old lounge(4 years old) that has the 100 mm square arm, looks like the above ,seems like good foam...BUT... it is fabric...!!! :x

Would love to make it look like the above with a recoat in leather...

Would the cost be prohibitive as to just buy Chinese cows one, it came from Scali , not that means much...???

Hi Vik. Just had a talk with my son ( he is a very good auto trimmer and lives in Woodcroft ). He just done a quick add up with just the leather being about $800 and probably nearly two days work coming in at $1700 to $2000 total. An upholsterer specializing in furniture may have a better price. With lounges being reasonably cheap to buy new normally it is not worth restoring an older one unless it has some personal significance. It is a throw-away world we live in. I have an old club lounge with the little wooden bits on the arms and some extra wooden scrolls I would love to restore. Just the materials ( foam, springs, wadding, fabric ) comes to about $1800. Will do it one day but I know I would never get my money back on it.
Cheers John
