Good and bad of bus batteries ?

Bus batteries need replacing so lay it on me guys, the good, the bad and the down right ugly. Recommendations please.

Bus batteries Bruce, the ones that start the bus. House batteries I thought just did the motor home parts ie fridge inverter, tv etc

Dot I found the 12Volt Shop like you have in Strath as good as anyone.
You'll need to measure what will fit but I found the SSB Gold ones good reliable batteries.
Have a chat to them & see if they agree.
I'm guessing you have 2? 24V?
Tell G to negotiate the price down a bit too.

Dot, I''ve found in this day and age dealing with small business and offering them cash mostly gets a good deal. The big companies and franchises, are locked into pricing and heavily audited. I was looking for new batteries for the bus and went to all the big ones with their sales and supposed good deals, weren't interested in a cash deal or dropping their prices.

Dropped into a tyre place who sold batteries as well, asked him his prices, which were above the others and asked what he could do for cash. He smiled and gave me a price below the others, then asked about some tyres for my cruiser and he asked cash, said yes and his price was again below the major dealers I'd visited.

Use cash as much as I can now, seems to save me a bit on everything I buy and try to deal with local small business. When on the road carry cash, doesn't hurt to ask and most times they respond with a god reduction in their pricing. Our local hardware which is very pricey, loves cash and beats bunnings every time, yet many people complain about their prices, but insist on using their cards. That tap and go thing, costs you quite a bit over a year, but it's hard not to use it, so carry cash and always ask for a discount for cash.

I would say age has done em in, Reckon they are around 5 yrs old? As some of you know Gman believes what ever he is told by most salesmen so I reckon he got done. I was wondering if the known brand names" are the way to go? or do the "unknown" ones have the same goods but different name tags? Going to get him to take them to the tyre / battery place tomorrow and they can have a look at them to see what they think of them????

NP I always have my cash stash for just about everything sometimes it works sometimes it don't, have to give it a try though.

From my experience once you take your batteries to be TESTED you can kiss them goodbye.
The load they put on them in the test will destroy almost any battery that is not 100%.
Just don't put your face over the top of them during the test!! Stand well back.
Yes, like most things, brand name demands a premium price.
Mercedes, BMW & even Jeep?? lol
