But Vic, would that be the reason for no or intermitant spark which lights the pilot?

Re: Instant hotwater ....help?
Light bulb moment, for me anyway. If the diaphragm doesn't lift then the switch doesn't make then no spark cos it won't light if there isn't enough water pressure? Sounds like a good plan. Let us know what happens George!

A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link...!!!Newcastle George wrote: ↑Sat Aug 18, 2018 6:01 pm But Vic, would that be the reason for no or intermitant spark which lights the pilot?
George
You have a weak link...
Sort that first, then go from there...!!!

Re: Instant hotwater ....help?
Dave, the water flow and pressure remains the same whether or not I get spark. It is sufficient to power the hydrogenerator to produce the correct voltage output to the ICU.supersparky wrote: ↑Sat Aug 18, 2018 6:03 pm Light bulb moment, for me anyway. Re: Instant hotwater ....help?
It has now worked perfectly for almost 2 weeks and I feel that the problem was a connector in the wiring between the overheating relay and the ICU. I connected and disconnected it several times in order to improve the conductivity. I have now replaced the connector with something more robust and will see whether the problem has been solved.Newcastle George wrote: ↑Thu Aug 16, 2018 6:10 pm Yes I do have the installation manual and no, it does not require any power by any means, just the water powered turbine which I have tested for output as per the specs wether or not I get the spark which lights the pilot flame. There is an overheating relay which goes open circuit if overheated and is one of the things which may be at fault and I am going to bypass it. The other is the ICU which may be the culprit. However, I can't see either of those causing the intermitance.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

Re: Instant hotwater ....help?
Wonderful news George! No more cold showers!!
Sometimes those hidden problems can be the worst to solve. A broken wire or blown fuse is obvious.
