Re: NSW zero alchahol for heavy vehicles
The supposed 100klm speed limit for heavy vehicles is not applied in Tas, every truck you see on the midlands is well over 100klms and on most roads they take no notice of speed limits. Zero alcohol for heavy vehicles is great, but they should all be tested for drugs and many still take amphetamines. My bus is over 12t, luckily doubt it would reach 100klms, other than down hill with a breeze behind it.

The NSW Road Rules provide a special speed limit for vehicles with a GVM over 4.5 tonnes, and vehicles and trailers with a GCM over 4.5 tonnes. Those vehicles must not travel in excess of 100 kilometres per hour.

Working anywhere in the rail corridor in NSW is the same, zero alcohol and zero drug tolerance. Breath testing and drug tests are a regular thing when working on the rail or even close to it if you are inside the fenced limits.

Even us poor old council workers now have the zero tolerance alcohol and drug testing. They haven't sacked anyone found positive yet, but a few have left because of it.

Wish they would do these tests on ALL medical staff in all hospitals, clinics etc. No if's ands or buts.

Do you reckon that might a bit like breath testing everyone that works at the brewery. It would be a bit funny, but it isn't, it's bloody serious.
I could go on, but it would finish up way off topic.
Cheers

Re: NSW zero alchahol for heavy vehicles
I have seen some medical misadventures that ended in the deaths of a few patients due to either drug usage, as well as booze on the job. Just look at the ambos now stealing the drugs from their rigs.supersparky wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 8:21 pmDo you reckon that might a bit like breath testing everyone that works at the brewery. Can't have the lollipop person going all silly and turning the sign the wrong way because they are under the influence of one drug or another ...(can say lollipop man anymore because quite often it is a female these days)supersparky wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 8:06 pmEven us poor old council workers now have the zero tolerance alcohol and drug testing. As far as sackings, on the rail you get suspended for a week and during that time they can call you in for a random drug test, a second offence is taken more seriously complete with the need to attend a counselling course at your own cost, 3rd offence and it's dismissal with no other entitlements.
