Nation-wide ambulance insurance cover

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Hi again,

Thanks for your help and comments to date.

In my original posting I neglected to point out that we are aged pensioners and have the appropriate Aust Govt Pensioner Concession Card. Hence our ambulance services from St Johns Ambulance (WA) are free - the full costs being born by St Johns and the State Govt. even if one does not have private health insurance [that's if one is an aged pensioner].

We need to know is there an insurance we can take out for ambulance services only and which is Australia wide.

I just made the phone call to NIB to confirm it, there ambulance only cover is Aust territory wide including land and sea from any emergency or doctor referred service. Even if the ambulance is called out but not needed, they cover the call out fee. We have ambulance only cover for just this reason, we can't see any value in health insurance but ambulance cover is a must.

God wouldn't you reckon in this day and age it would be automatic cover Aust. wide. Same for hospital, what in the hell is wrong with this country.

Reminds me of a friend organizing her old age pension, fronted up to centrelink with all the paper work but was told they couldn't / wouldn't accept her Queensland birth certificate as it wasn't recognized down here in NSW. Guess Qld. is another foreign country, next we will need a passport.
