Hi, all.
Can one wire the F.F. to the nearest light fitting, or is it wiser to connect to the 12v battery and include an inline fuse?

Yes you can easily do it that way (it's only 12V).
If you connect it to the light wire anywhere between the light and the switch it will come on with the light. Connected before the light switch it will be always on unless you pop another switch in the line or maybe there's a switch on the fan already? You may need to look at the size wire already to the light as well.
Depending on the present fuse for the light it may do the job. How much does the fan draw on max speed?
I wired 95% of my unit with only a live wire and all the bus chassis and body is the earth return.

Hi, all.
Adminperson - thanks for that - our friendly auto (and caravan) electrician in Caboolture was more than willing to wire it through to the battery and only quoted over $200 because of my pensioner status. The ECG I had later in the day showed a major, but not fatal, heart attack in the hip pocket.
