As the Li-Ion battery guru, can you tell me what the 'T' terminal is for on my camera battery? (I know what the '+' and '-' terminals are...

Re: A Q 4 T1
Temperature, probably a closed contact thermistor that goes open contact if it senses a cell over heat and this stops the charging. If a cell goes short circuit or gets overcharged compared to the others, that cells temperature rises rapidly. Sadly, there is only one thermistor in there, so it isn't designed to protected the cells. it is designed to stop it turning into a fire cracker wit cells exploding and shooting across the room with a rocket flame behind it. Quite a spectacular show that can be watch on a link I put up about the risks of using the Tesla cells for a home power battery if you don't use the rest of the BMS system and cooling system.
The 3.7v nom. cell voltage indicates it is one of the lithium compounds that DOES generate oxygen when overheated. The cells that do not generate oxygen internally have a nom. voltage of 3.2v (LiFeP04) or 2.3v nom. for LTO cells.

Re: A Q 4 T1
So, as this one no longer holds a charge, and needs to be replaced, how do I "dispose of properly"

Well, that would turn it into a spectacular bonfire

Looks like snap-in tabs & slots. Probably glued as well, as I can’t separate the casing.

Re: A Q 4 T1
Pity, it will only be one cell causing the problem and could easily either be fully recharged or replaced if it is seriously damaged.

Re: A Q 4 T1
Well, I ordered two replacement batteries on the www.
They cost half what the local (Albury) camera shop was charging!
(That's why I bought two.
)
They arrived today.
Talk about over-packaging!!!
Mailing envelope. OK, that's necessary.
Two cardboard boxes. OK on them.
Inside, two plastic bags.
Inside each bag, a plastic box.
Inside each box, a battery, with a cling-sheet of plastic... which appeared to serve no practical purpose, as it did not cover the terminals!
Perhaps they were there to keep the plastic battery cases shiny until I use them.
Dunno why, but it's upside-down
Bruce, can you fix this, please?
