Russell congrats on a neat and useful mod. We have a similar vehicle to yours and the same table, we have been thinking about trying to mod the table but I had two issues stopping me.

Firstly our table support leg is identical to yours and when the table is folded up the leg would be too short to reach the floor, and the support shelf next to to wall would have to be wide enough to support the first part of the table.

Russell does you support leg reach the floor, and if so how did you achieve that?

How wide is your support shelf? Also could you let us know the measurements of how far out you made the hinge joints? And did you use full length piano hinges?

We too were going to get a cabinet maker to do the cutting, and I had spoken to one last month. With your permission I would like to show him your pictures to better describe what we want.

Russell does you support leg reach the floor, and if so how did you achieve that? No it doesn't reach the floor, I got a 65mm fat lounge leg made of wood from Bunnings to sit on the floor using velcro for the moment till I think of another method that doesn't put holes in the floor.

How wide is your support shelf? The first photo has the support box on the old table thats all we used It would at a guess be some 30cms , I added some s/a felt strips from Bunnings for the table to slide on.

Also could you let us know the measurements of how far out you made the hinge joints? I'll have to take some measurements next time I'm in the beast.

And did you use full length piano hinges? Yes

Feel free to show photos but the table was made from new, we still have the old table less the leg and wall mount slides.

Cuppa
Missed your post sorry.

It's all done with piano hinges, using the original clips to bar mounted on the wall which allow the table to slide left to right, a feature I kept for new table.

The leg extension is about the thickness of the table x3 (65mm)

I hope that helps.

Dimensions

Table 990 long 610 wide

in three segments 255 .. 275 .. 440.

Hope helps.

This is not the original table cut up but a new table custom built around a a hardwood frame to take the piano hinges. The wooden block underneath the leg for stability is simply velcroed to the floor for easy removal. (Please excuse crappy photos)

That is a very well thought out table Russell!
I can imagine there are a couple of very nasty pinchy devils in that table that you might want to warn the Grandkids about!!!
I used that piano hinge in quite a few places in my reconstruction & really do wish that the screw holes were offset so the heads don't clash. A half a MM raised of each screw head & it puts pressure on the joint.
I also discovered that although the roll of piano hinge stated it was "brass plated" it actually meant it was plated very thinly in brass colour over iron/steel. Mine got a light shower of rain on it (the roll) & now I have a heap of rusty stuff left for the tip.
Well done!!
