Very clever innovation there Russell, looks very neat as well. How did you cut the table top without chipping the laminex?

A very special technique call getting the BiL (a cabinet maker) to build it.

Ahhh.... the old cabinet maker brother in law built trick eh, probably has one of those bench saws with the small diam very fine toothed blade ahead of the big blade so there is a precut before the main cut.

I'm having trouble working out what the wooden box is for?
It is a nice job very well finished though.
A little high for a laptop or are those seats adjustable height?

That's where the carrier pigeons live so he doesn't need to use the 'puter all the time

It's the main support for the now floppy table, most I've seen are fixed but this one allows the table to slide as the original configuration. Good place to charge the many elect gadgets too.
Yeah it high at T111 height for most but ok for moi.

Certainly makes the seating space far more flexible. I,m still having a bit of trouble seeing how it works though. No visible hinges, so it must slide in & out somehow? Can we have pics of the underside open & closed?
What a great place to keep the rum and schnapps, crossword and glasses.
Keeping the slide wall fixing is a great bonus. Alan Lucas would be proud. Is that a piano hinge fitted to the underside in the last pic? A very neat job.
What was the stimulus for the change?
