Frozen TV

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Thought digital was the B end to all. Seems like another balls up by a government. Guess I should have realized no matter what party has the reins if its government inspired/backed its a failure......

Dirk I have it on pretty good authority that the Gov wanted the analogue frequencies shut down so those frequencies could be put up for auction to the mobile phone/internet companies. Billions into Gov coffers with no real worry about if digital actually works or not.

G'Day Bruce,

Sure does sound about right what you say. Isn't if like the government, anything for a quick dollar.

Bit active on the forum tonight......

Yeah, would be better to raise taxes, much simpler.

Kay,

We had a similar problem with our Winnie when we swapped the original lights for LED's.

You'll recall that the en-suit was opposite the entrance & the TV just to the left of that door... well, when the lights over the vanity were turned on it sometimes - but not always - caused severe flickering o freezing of the TV.

I'm assuming that the times it did interfere were times of weaker TV signal. Turning on the shower light did not have the same effect!!

Also, the microwave often did the same!

HI
It may be of interst to Know that All Electrical devices sold in Aus Shall meet an interference stanrdard

That sets minimum requirements !!

Some may just make it ,OTHER may be far better
That does seem to be the case with LED lights

I'm guessing no one bothered to tell them exactly what it's not supposed to interfere with!!!
Isn't it Radio Frequency Interference? Is that different to electrical interference?
Yeah I know but maybe one 'goes through the air' & the other "through the electrical wire" ???
OK, I got no idea.......... it just does it sometimes & it's annoying!!

HI Bruce
The actual interference can be both radiated or conducted
The Conducted is usually the easiect to correct
But radiated can be a pain
But the Standards set minimum requirements for BOTH forms ;)

Of course it would/could be more costly to have ZERO interference , so a compromise level is set as the MIN.

Meeting THOSE requirements is part of getting Aus approval for sale .

G'Day Peter,

Interesting subject here. So does running the TV cable through conduit by itself help at all and does the heavier aerial wire with the heavier insulation help. Guessing the heavier insulation the better. I know with the JayCar dealer they always ask do you want the cheap aerial or the good one. Good one is dearer of course but a lot heavier.
