Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!
Ok no funny remarks, this is serious. We are looking to change all van lights to led but at the moment we have one bed light LED & when we turn it on while the tv is on, the tv freezes, every time.
Any comments please.
Do you have one of those mast head amplifiers or signal boosters? Could be starving it of necessary voltage, or you are confusing the TV for the microwave with the frozen dinner in it.
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
Occasionally the signal for our home based unit becomes to weak (even with the booster) and just gives up with a black screen until the signal improves - usually only for a few seconds or so.
dawg (who thinks the show in the microwave is as good as the box this time of year)
Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

That is quite an effort, to get the TV to freeze in that heat. As i suggested to Bruce, check the supply voltage right at the tv when the LED is on and the problem is occuring, try a different power cable from the battery to the TV and see if it still occurs? What LED unit is ot you are using? I know some of them can stuff up AM radio reception so peter and Brad may also be on the right track.

Don't know if this is going to help or not but there are various qualities of TV cable. If you are using one of those odd looking 2 square plastic wind up aerials you see on Jayco vans then the cable is really fine stuff with little in the way of insulation, thinner than mig wire. My TV techo said we were wasting our time fitting the cable, but of course as things go we had already routed the cable, (bloody nightmare) through the bus roof and refitted the ceiling sheets so at the moment it stays until absolutely necessary and I can't see the mighty AFL or Bathurst. Doesn't matter about the bloody serials......
Yesterday in our country town we "lost" all of Ch7 stations (4).
They were there but for some reason the signal was that weak that it crackled and popped, viewable for 10 seconds & then ....... etc etc.
I changed everything I could but made no difference.
In my lounge we have a beaut old big analogue TV that I couldn't bring myself to dump so I bought a Strong (brand) HD set top box for it.
That had no problems showing them channels.
I now have that connected to my LCD digital TV!!
I honestly think a lot of these cheap LCD TV's (Aldi & the like?) have terrible converting ability built into them.
About $45 for one to try Kay, or do you or your daughter have a spare one to test?

HI Bruce
Digital is nowhere near as tolerent of weak signals as analogue
Worse it is usually there or not there.
Much more affected by weather & obstructions.
It was probably that the set top box does have a better signal output .
Although again one should check the Specs [likeoils they are not all the same]
Whilst sitting in a servo dining room we tried to watch the tele, it became apparent that digital tv is for the main cities only, not suitable for the outer areas. Turning the fluro lights on killed the TV for a good 2 mins, every truck that passed the window near the tele either froze the picture or sent the screen blank with a "no signal" box in the top corner, if a car went close by the sound was lost, we gave up and realised we hadn't actually lost anything when we turned our backs on television in general.

HI terry
Yes that is pretty typical of the reception problems wth digital
.
In weak signal areas there is a limit to how much you can boost the signal with preamplifiers [Msat head etc]
In my location even a few degrres out of line can loose all signal.
Trees moving in the wind , even weather conditions, can cause us loss of signal with certain stations.
