Bernie, Standown Park was originally opened as a Veterans' Retreat but to make it a viable proposition amenities were later added and it was opened to the travelling public. On one side of the artificial lake is the Veterans' Memorial.

The engraved plaques have, I believe, been placed in memorium by loved ones.


The owner is an ex-Serviceman and Veterans receive a discount on the fees.

We find it a very peaceful spot with lots of birds around. It has one of the best happy hour campfire and camp kitchens that we have seen. All very laid back. This is our third stay here. More info at www.standown.com.au

Would love to catch up with you sometime Bernie. Maybe on one of your shopping trips to Maryborough. We are popping up to RV HB tomorrow to have a look at progress. Don't have a move in date yet. Hopefully we get together with the builder after Easter and get an idea.
