Free data today on Telstra?

My bill comes from Telstra Terry . they own bigpond .
Dunno what your talking about Bruce we receive a paper bill much to their annoyance .

Yes, but they run it as 2 different companies and only Telstra are offering the free data thing, they can do that cause they are too big to argue with and know some people will be caught-out thinking bother companies have free data and run up big data bills on their BigPong account. No idea how Big Pond managed to not have an outage when Telstra did, it is the same carrier.

Well after queuing up approx 70gb of downloads, we went to bed, thinking we whould be halfway through by the morning.
I forgot to check hard drive capacity, so it stalled early in the morning. Restarted after moving some stuff, and so far have got a bit over 12gb down, and sucking as hard as we can. All good fun. We have 2 phones and a 4g modem going hammer n tongs

From Telstra, because I am on a pre-paid mobile plan - "Whether you’re on a personal or business, pre-paid or post-paid mobile, tablet or mobile broadband plan, you will automatically receive free data, from ​midnight ​to ​midnight in your local Australian time zone ​Sunday ​14 ​February ​2016."

But my phone/s are on Aldimobile and they also emailed me - "Whilst the outage was outside of our control we want to make things right for our customers that were impacted which is why we are giving free data (within Australia) to all of our customers this Sunday.
The free data will apply to you regardless of which plan you are on - if you have Pay As You Go, or a Value Pack, you will not be charged for data this Sunday.
The free data on Sunday will apply from 12am AEDT this Sunday morning until 3am AEDT Monday morning, this will allow for our customers in WA to also enjoy free data until midnight on Sunday local time in WA."

It was an apology for last Tuesday, when just about the entire Telstra internet access went down.
Very frustrating at the time... couldn't get internet banking to work, couldn't do some on-line shopping I wanted to do...
