Glad the new house is on the high side of the road ...... I reckon you could tie up across the road from the new house at the moment Bruce, it's real deep there just at the moment.... wonder if it will reach the road?

Re: Wet year?
I heard that they are releasing a big splash from the Hume dam either now or very soon and have ordered an evacuation from the Cowirra caravan park due to the risk of flooding, you heard anything about that Bruce? They are suggesting an increase of 0.7mtrs to 1mtr above the present level, does your house boat float that high Bruce
The real question is will the Commodore and the sheep shaggers van float that high.... wouldn't that be over the road at the Marina?

Re: Wet year?
When we were at Junction Point where the Murrumbidgee meets the Murray, the water was flowing back up the Murray at about the same rate as it was flowing down the Murray, the level was quite high then.... now they are releasing even more water out of the Hume dam to give them some head space for the next lot coming in the levels will be real high. All the creeks and rivers feeding into the Murray will be running backwards as the level rises and it's already well up, think there might be some very wet feet up stream soon.

Re: Wet year?
Yes.... too high!
Any room to park a couple of vehicles & a trailer in your yard? lol
I think there are about 10 locks/weirs between Hume Dam and here so each one will absorb some of that height.
The Forest will soak up millions of litres too. Barmah Forest or something it's called? Lorraine visited it one time?
Barmah National Park, together with the adjoining Millewa forest in New South Wales, forms the largest River Red Gum forest in the world. The complex ecology of the forest is closely linked to the Murray River and its flooding regime, creating a diverse natural habitat for a variety of wildlife, particularly waterbirds.
Barmah is a great spot for camping. Days can be easily filled with fishing, horse riding, bushwalking, swimming and canoeing.

Re: Wet year?
I think they have already flooded the Barham forest, there was a lot of water up around that way when we were headed back towards Lake Illawarra 2 weeks ago, so I wouldn't be counting on too much water up take from anywhere up stream from Wentworth. They were dumping water there last week when we had a look and the island on the other side where the Darling meets the Murray was heading under water then, so I guess it has a bit of water over it now.BruceS wrote:Yes.... too high!

You are welcome to bring the vehicle up to higher ground in Upper Mannum if you to Bruce, we can run you back, then bring the tinnie up to collect them later
