We have had very little problems with water, we fill our tank through the filters, dual filter system 1 micron sediment filter and 0.5 micron charcoal filter which removes the bugs, including the fluoride and chlorine, my theory is keep the water going into the tank clean and you will always have clean water coming out. Being bought up on tank water and having tank water at home I do not like either the taste or smell of chlorine, it ruins a good cup of tea, We fill up where ever possible from local rivers and creeks in preference. We did get into trouble some years back where I think a gecko had crawled up the hose, could not get the taste out of the plastic tanks, dumped them and replaced the tank with a stainless tank no problems since.
Have found if you have to fill up in South Australia, Fill a large open topped bucket, or tub, cover with fly net and leave it over night the chlorine will evaporate off the top, and any heavy muck will settle to the bottom, the result is drinkable. we then pump this into our tanks through the filters.
We used to bring horses over from Victoria a couple of times a year, to Murray Bridge and Oakbank, used to bring our own water, they would not touch the local water before a race, Particularly at Murray bridge but they would drink it once it had been left overnight.

Re: Water storage
The way to drink Adelaide water is run it through a pr of old socks that had been worn for a week, that got the lumps out and improved the taste
The water is bit like the local beer, not fit for human consumption and you'd get a jail sentence for giving it to animals, but Mannum water seems to be ok, but the taste is definitely different to the tank water at the new house.

Dangerous stuff!
Daughter, while at high school, fooled even some teachers with a petition to ban a dangerous chemical: Hydrogen dioxide.
"In large quantities it can kill people, it corrodes metal, and has been known to destroy crops when applied in excess of recommended dosage."

Re: Water storage
Margaret claims the house water tastes better but I haven't quite acquired the taste yet, still prefer the workshop tap water. Apparently Murray Bridge water is a bit ordinary at the moment with half the topsoil from NSW mixing with the top soil from Qld making the Murray look like it's running upside down, maybe they have better socks at the Mannum filter station or something.BernieQ wrote:Different socks at the new house Terry ?
