My bus is over 12t, has Tas personalised plates, been stopped a few times over the years for roadworthy and they have never said a word about it's rego or compliance plates. The only comments have been,"oh Tassie registered" a smile and off we go.jon_d wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 3:40 pm State rego rules disappear and national takes over.
So, it you have Tassy or SA rego to get a flaky MH registered; then things will be come a lot harder..... esp if you get pulled over for a roadworthy.
One reason why I got the bus registered as a motor home with all the engineer tickets and plates.

Re: National Heavy Vehicle rego.
NP,
Which states have pulled you over for a roadworthy?
Is yours a home conversion?
Our Winnie is 9t, and we’ve never been pulled over for a roadworthy, only licence check... especially when SWMBO is driving.
It seems the roads people in most states still don’t believe a woman could pass the Heavy Vehicle test... which she did aged 25. That’s, oooh, let me see, at least 20 years ago!

Re: National Heavy Vehicle rego.
NSW Ray, have always found the NSW cops and heavy vehicle inspectors are real morons and
when they pull us over, they seem to go through the entire vehicle. Yes home made job, but they have never found any thing wrong and know we have very little restrictions on vehicles states in Tas.
Cops down here only do roadworthy checks if there is something glaringly unsafe and there are a lot of pretty sus looking vehicles on the roads here, we don't need roadworthy for registration and selling a vehicle. My neighbours car has rusty holes in the doors and looks crap, but the local cop talks to her at different times and says nothing. Her car mechanically is A1, as I keep it that way for her, but the body crap.
We do live in paradise here and there have been no new cases of the virus in Tas for 2 days, they are saying restrictions will be lifted after 2 weeks of no new cases. All the cases are from cruise ship people and those who have traveled over seas. But they are not going to open our borders until there are no cases in Aus, so we will start gigging as soon as they say it's safe to return to normal life.

My barge came with Heavy Plates... nowBrucie2 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 6:29 pm Can I customise my national heavy vehicle plate?
This varies between jurisdictions. Contact your local transport authority customer service centre or visit their website for more information about customised plates.
Am I still able to get personalised plates?
Yes. However, unlike the new national heavy vehicle plates, personalised plates can’t be transferred between jurisdictions. Contact your local transport authority customer service centre or visit their website for more information about personalised plates.
