National Heavy Vehicle rego.
I've noticed that more vehicles are showing up with National Heavy Vehicle registration. Is there a benefit of doing that over rego from your home state?
Cheers

Re: National Heavy Vehicle rego.
Think it's the same as a national MCC licence, mine went from a Tas MCC to a national one when renewed my licence and was told that's the way it is, still paid Tas rates and was issued by Tas. It means I'm legal to drive in any state for any length of time with no need to get a state licence, so probably the same with HV's.
Just got a smile when I asked whether that applied to my motorbike endorsement as well, so they didn't know.

Re: National Heavy Vehicle rego.
State rego rules disappear and national takes over.
So, it you have Tassy or SA rego to get a flaky MH registered; then things will be come a lot harder..... esp if you get pulled over for a roadworthy.
One reason why I got the bus registered as a motor home with all the engineer tickets and plates.

We were not given a choice. The dealer registered the vehicle when we picked it up.

Re: National Heavy Vehicle rego.
Our Coaster went to SA to live when we sold it, on transfer of registration from NSW to SA the purchaser had to register it as National rego, he messaged me that he was told it came in Australia wide in 2018 & wondered why we hadn't changed same, told him that I had never heard of National rego.

Our bus (Motor Home), gvm 10500, just has NSW Rego. The only reference to National Heavy Vehicle rego is as shown below:

Re: National Heavy Vehicle rego.
Yes Bruce it was GVM 4990, I am thinking it is probably only applied when changing ownership, not when renewing rego in the same name & probably new rego, thinking it is being introduced slowly, I have noticed more & more National plates on vehicles.
Also seems to be more active in some states.
