Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

We water-skied behind a tinnie before I bought the mini hydroplane .... that was still illegal to ski behind because there was no room for an observer, but that never stopped us ..... we weren't rich and certainly not kids, I think I was in my early 20's  Learned to single ski behind that, fitted on the roof racks on a VW square back and powered by a very stripped down (to remove weight) 20 hp Mercury outboard ..... great fun for very few $$

No speeding is a prime one, then there's Dog walking, a short lead to stop them wandering etc in the gardens, pick up all their bogs, and if your dog has social problems, keep it on a short lead and control it!
No free-range animals at any time.
We do our own frontage gardens, and the Village does all the Common areas
Then there's the Old Person syndrome, don't tell me what to do, I know everything, and I'll tell you about it all the time, the best way to be a loner, from what I see here.
Apart from that, I don't see living in this village any different to living outside.
Some people you see a lot of, and some you never see.
Mt next door I saw 3 weeks ago, blinds are up so I know she's alive
One couple I met recently have been here 15 years, but they don't socialise a lot and are quite happy with the village.
But the Village next door ????? !!
Security cameras everywhere, reviewed every Monday to check up on those disobedient Villagers,( Think Gestapo and all the rules to keep them all in line with her decisions and overview )
Friends liked the layout of that Village, now they regret it.
So if you're thinking of Village Lifestyle, do a LOT of research

Rom, so pleased that you have addressed some of the issues of living in a gated community. I’ve been reluctant as so many here are so anti the idea. There are retirement villages and there are lifestyle villages. We live in the latter and have done so for more than 11 years. Our lifestyle village is specifically designed for those who own RVs, Caravans etc and want to travel for a large portion of each year. Yes, there are rules but not onerous and not much different if one lives in suburbia. The most important thing is to know what your village situation is. In Qld, (I can’t speak for other states) retirement villages have deferred management payments, meaning you don’t retain the full sale value, I.e. an exit fee. Lifestyle villages allow you to retain the full sale value (less commission if you sell through the village). We have a 16x6m garage attached to our house which acts as storage, man cave and junk storage as required.

Village life is not for all but it has served us well and we expect it to continue until we are carted out in a box. We join in what social activities we choose, nothing is forced on us. This year we had a 6 week trip to Victoria, a 5 week Mediterranean cruise and currently 3 weeks into a 6 week Motorhome trip to north Qld. Our home is under supervision whilst we are away.

I acknowledge this is not for everyone but to dismiss the lifestyle out of hand is shortsighted.
Cheers
