Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Another relaxing day...over the back had tree cutters in so that was a bit of excitement ;)
Not much else going on in town...Carol had a small win at bingo...plus all the gossip :D
Except for opening the door I done little in the motorhome, me thinks herself is going to clean in side of it today :?:
Terry if you are about ...can I run straight 30 grade oil in the Hino engine, other than multigrade :?:
Keep safe everyone.
Bernie.
Straight weight oils are for air cooled engines these days, multi grade oils get too hot and turn the tricky bit that makes them change viscosity as the oil heats up into nitride (I think that's what they're called) particles that score the bore and cause excess oil consumption in an engine that was otherwise operating well. The scores in the bore lead to ring blow by and oil ends up leaking out of everywhere, even through the alloy cases in British built engines.

As Bruce says, it is the upper number that is critical .... to an extent .... at the upper temp range, the oil will still be the viscosity of 5w oil, where straight 30w would be like tar when very cold and petrol when at the max operating temp range.
If you see the oil pressure is high when the engine is cold, the first number needs to be lower, the oil is too thick and is not getting to the places it needs to reach when the engine first starts up.
If the oil pressure is low when the engine is hot and idling, like low enough to make the light blink, the upper number needs to be higher because the oil is thinning out to the point it is running past the worn bits like bearing shells and the pump can't keep up ..... replacing the bearing shells and fixing the oil pump or upgrading it to a higher flow pump will fix the low oil pressure when hot and reduce the oil consumption because the cyl bores are not being flooded with the oil being pumped out of the bearing to crank gap as the piston changes from being held down going up on the exhaust stroke to the being pulled back down on the intake stroke ..... that is the bearing rattle the trained ear can recognise, not on the compression and expansion stroke, the piston is always in the loaded and held down state during that part of the cycle .......

No matter how thick the oil is, if the bore is scored or the oil control rings worn or clogged and the second ring worn rounded rather than shape on the edges to act as an oil scrapper, oil will still pump onto the top of the piston .... if the valve guides are worn and/or the valve stem seals are damaged, there will be a big cloud of thick white smoke when the engine first fires up, hot or cold .....

Also, keep in mind, if the valve guides are worn excessively, when the head is removed, look for carbon build up around the outside edges of the piston, if it is clean around the bit closest to the bore, you need to do rings and bearings as well ..... every chance the diesel engine will not fire up once the oil running past the valve guides is fixed ..... that oil was sealing the rings to create compression for that first bang to get the whole combustion cycle happening ....

Thus ends the lesson on oil and engine wear diagnosis ..... :D

Good afternoon, only managed to score 1 today, Umina beat us on the master board 35-34, again we played in very windy conditions, disappointing going down by 1, Umina play Bateau Bay (blue) in the final.

Our grade 3 ladies won today & are into the final against Lake Munmorah, we’ll all need to go & support them, go Gwando.

Actually we’ve done really good for a small stand alone club with about 25 regular lady players.
Shirley & Bruce.

Morning everyone.
Well the weather was right we did get showers...two...and got 2mm  SFA...
I made two brackets for the motorhome stone guard, it only had two holding it on and wobbled a bit...now don't :D it has four holding it, the two new one's come off the window pillars.
It will take me a bit to digest Terry's oily response ;) 8-)
Still to get to the thingy that's nor working...maybe today.
Keep safe.

"tanks" here---
Well, today is my big day for the Colonography after 2 days of clean-out gunk and drinking apple juice.
The effect was as Dot has described after her recent procedure.
My GP wanted them to do an Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy, however my lung condition ruled that out and second choice is this Colonography.
Looking forward to having the procedure completed and then I can EAT STUFF again.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Good ... what ever time it is ... salutation 8-) I doubt I'd get away with a "good morning" even on Qld time ... or Territory time for that matter
Margaret suggested I get out of bed because I would miss the first half of Bathurst .... cruel woman, it's only Friday it appears .....
Maybe the other races and practice sessions will be on the interweb somewhere ...

Shaved the extended version of the beard off, leading into summer is not the time to be starting a beard  Margaret said I had to leave the 'tash and beard part, (looked it up and it's called a circle beard apparently) she has only seen photos of when I didn't have it, but that appears to have been enough .... :o

Good morning everyone. Its been pretty windy here for the past few days, but it seems to have calmed down for now. No rain though.
I did bugger all yesty, just had zero inclination for anything. Feel a bit better today, so I might mow some grass and maybe wash down the roof of the m/h.
Has anybody heard from Peter 2ft6 recently?
Get well soon all those that may be a bit crook.
Safe travels everybody.
Cheers

Good morning everyone.
I can now tell you what wasn't working....I thought it was something I done while fiddling with the electrics :D It is the two overhead fans that are pointing at driver and passenger, they are 12v. As it turns out they only work when the fridge is on  and of cause the fridge isn't on...The NONG who done all the wiring put it on the fridge circuit
Live and learn everyday :D :D
Also the decals that were on the bus (road runner) now adorn my beer fridge in the shed, a much better place methinks
TWO big things coming up Bathurst Sunday and ....I will tell more on Monday.. ;) ;)
Keep safe out there.
Bernie.
Morning Dave.

Looks like I spoke to soon earlier on. The wind is blowing and it's quite cool. So I probably won't be doing the roof of the Winny today. Might have to just watch the cars go round on the TV.
Cheers
