Behind your fridge?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

I wondered about that too Steve, but Leslie says;

So I'm thinking the board is stopping external heat from getting in, but sans photos, I can only visualise the textual narrative.

I knew there was a reason I put the fridge in the centre of the bus.

The other logical reason I installed our fridge in the middle of the bus it the lean when pulled up on the side of the road. The Mazda has the fridge on the right hand side so unless it's level getting things out of the fridge can become juggling act.
The bonus with our install is the panel behind the fridge covers the shower plumbing acts as a heat sink and vents out through the roof via one of those Dometic range hood fans. i also built an aluminium skinned drying cupboard above the fridge to utilize the waste heat, but I'm now beginning to doubt there will be enough to be worthwhile, but we will see.

The difference this makes is great. Cool timber instead of heat coming off outside cladding of van.

See what you started by introducing a foreign substance here; we get lessons on forum etiquette, popularity ratings, what to do with unwanted letters and how to cook P's with Q's. :lol:

Aw dang, just enlarged the photo and saw the bottom grill that changed the substance of my original post, so I deleted that section - sorry.

not cool dawg 8-)

Does the fridge have one of those condenser/dust collectors on the back Kay? If yes, a suggested mod while the fridge is out. Glue a piece of foam thick enough to press up against the condensor when the fridge is in place, far enough above the bottom vent to contact the lower section of the condenser.
About 1/3rd of the distance between the 2 vents, glue a piece of foam to the fridge, behind the condensor so it prsses up against the condenser.
About 2/3rds of the distance between the 2 vents, glue another piece of foam on the back wall thick enough to press against the condensor.

The idea is, force the air from the bottom vent behind the condenser, then through the condenser to the back wall to get around the blockage and then back through the condenser to get past the next blockage. From there is must go through the condenser again to get out the top vent. This will remove the max amount of heat into the air flowing between the 2 vents and shorten the cycle length the fridge runs.
In a standard fit up, the air can flow between the 2 vents with out actually passing through the condenser so only some of the heat is removed.
