I have been using the cheap coles / woolies plain label nappy soaker for about 8 years. Very happy with it.
I also use the pop top plastic drink bottle for the flush as described by Chuck. Very economical on water.

Re: Toilet Additive
I have used the cheap nappy soaker for over 3 years full time. Tried the Tablets but found they did not disolve fast enough and they sat in the bottom.
I add one when I think of it to get rid of them.
I have a spray bottle with eucalyptus oil added and I spray that inside the pan at least once a day and helps keep the odours under control and helps keep the seal lubricated ( so I am told)
Regards
Brian

Re the Eucalyptus oil.
We were using a couple of drops along with the nappy treatment plus after each cleanout... the cassette that is - not the other one ...& whilst it did smell nice we found after a few weeks that the neck swivel point became very tight & difficult to turn along with the cap becoming extremely tight to remove & finally unable to screw back on the neck.
Result - 1 new cassette.
Hopefully the spray your using - no doubt using much less oil quantity - will not have the same effect.

Re: Toilet Additive
Been using it for a couple of years Chucj and all seems OK.
Did a dump this morning and all was well.
I only use a bit mixed with the water in a normal spray bottle such as most kitchen stuff comes in as I am too tight to buy a special bottle when I have ones to throw away.
Regards

Re: Toilet Additive
I must have a different SOG system.
I purchased the SOG with the promise that I would not need chemicals and there would be no smell...
$360 and a few hours of installation and its useless.......
I have reverted to nappi san and now have a very expensive automatic and useless sucking fan installed...
My SOG is merely a hose which attaches to the cassette onto an exhaust fan with a carbon filter on the exterior of the cassette door.. The fan switches on when the toilet is being used and is off the rest of the time. As I said useless...
The one function is serves is that if I have the inclination I can get many flies with one spray at the cassette exhaust on the outside of the vehicle.

Re: Toilet Additive
Wow, I'm sorry and surprised to hear that you are unhappy with your SOG. As I've already said, we love ours and would have one installed in any future van or MH. Ours was installed by the previous owners and they had one installed in their new Spinifex. You are the first person I have heard of who is unhappy with the unit and we know a number of Kedron owners who have them. I guess in your case that's $360 down the toilet, literally.

Re: Toilet Additive
I have heard a similar tale around happy hrs at rallies, some even tried runnng the fan 24/7 but the fan died after a few mths. It appeared the member of the party that thought the SOG worked well in removing any odour was not the member who emptied the cassette
the odour doesn't come inside when the toilet is used, but that's about it..... I don't use/have never used one so this is others experiences I'm repeating, although i have parked beside a motorhome that possibly needed a new carbon filter

Re: Toilet Additive
Terry, emptying the cassette is usually a joint effort. Erich does the actually emptying while I man (person?) the hose. It really is not unpleasant. Having said that, of course, I have no experience of emptying a cassette that uses chemicals. Maybe they smell like roses?
Perhaps you would like a test drive at Easter......
