There once was a man from Cork
Who got limericks
And haiku confused.
There once was a man from the sticks
Who liked to compose limericks
But he failed at the sport
‘Cause he wrote them too short.
But something that rhymed with sticks would be the fix
There once was a man called Dan
Whose limericks never would scan.
When told this was so,
He said “Yes I know,
It’s because I try to squeeze,
as many syllables or a sneeze,
Into the last line as I can.”

Re: Thought for Today
I hope you all appreciate the fact that the first limerick is exactly 17 syllables, the definition of a haiku poem.

That went so far over my head, I didn't even Google what a haiku poem was

Some Kulcha...
Thought those OTR might like this:
Hay, Hell,
and Booligal
A.B. ‘Banjo’ Paterson
Such a pleasant, quiet place.
You never see a stranger’s face;
They hardly ever care to call.
The drovers mostly pass it by,
They reckon that they’d rather die
Than spend a night in Booligal.
But down in Hay the shearers come
And fill themselves with fighting rum
And chase blue devils up the wall
And fight the snaggers every day
Until there is the deuce to pay —
There’s none of that in Booligal.
“We’d have to stop!” with bated breath
We prayed that both in life and death
Our fate in other lines might fail;
“Oh, send us to our just reward
In Hay or Hell, but gracious Lord,
Deliver us from Booligal! ”

Re: Thought for Today
I've spent a few nights in and around Booligal. It's a nice little town place. They have sheep races there every so often. It's a good laugh, and brings the place to life.
Cheers

Re: Thought for Today
Dave,
We also made a pitstop in Booligal.
Saw the bronze Theodolite commemorating the surveying of the NSW/Qld border (forgotten the name of the surveyor).
Also visited Mungindi to see the One Ton Border Post.
(I hope it was protected from the bushfire last week!)
Compared to the five houses and the abandoned pub in Booligal, Mungindi is a thriving metropolis!
The weird thing about Booligal is that the One Tree Hotel has nary a tree within a couple of miles.

Re: Thought for Today
Very good Ray, and so true.
Just watching the news about deep fakes and all that AI stuff. So, it used to be that if there wasn't a picture it didn't happen.
But with AI, just because you have a pic doesn't mean it did happen.
Where will it end?
