Bushfires & our place...

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

I've been hearing the fire bombing planes scooping out of the Lake every 30 mins or so since around 9am. They have what looks like over sized floats attached and they skim across the top of the lake and then circle around and bugger off over the mths again. I'll have to try and get a spot to take a few photos of them filling the pods, but we all get a watering as the excess sprays out as they climb over the houses. Don't know how they are getting around the lake being salt water now it's been opened to the ocean yet they are fire bombing in the metro catchment area, maybe we'll have charcoal filtered salt water running out the taps for a while

Certainly hope that things improve from here. Defence force has admitted to lighting a fire over here as well. On the news this morning.

Salt water wouldn't be so much of a worry as the retardants and the ash when it runs off again. Still most of it evaporates or gets filtered again when it soaks into the ground.

Great news that your house has been spared, Chuck and Catriana. Really feel for those who were less fortunate though.

Just had another look at the '1st' picture I posted...

Look at the left hand side, see the goal posts?

Look a little to the left of them, see the light tower with the two black lights on it?

Now look at the cloud directly behind that light pole.

Looks a bit like "Casper the friendly ghost"... maybe it was & he's blowing the smoke - & hence the fires - across the the right & away from us. :D :D :D
