Bushfires & our place...

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Bushfires & our place...

Post by Chuck »

Apparently there was a photo on Sunrise (7) taken from the Warrimoo oval & showing the bushfire in the area... if you saw the photo then our house was 200m to the left of the pic!!

Eldest daughter Michelle just called to say that as she was driving down our street to check on the house, in front of her were 5 fire trucks from Wagga Wagga heading down to the command post at the oval... that concerned her a bit but then she saw 3 choppers dropping water around he area.....

Fortunately the house is still intact!

But the fight is not yet over... still smouldering about 500m down the bush track & if the winds get back up & turns E or NE then we are in for another big fight.

Dunno how I'm going to manage the toiletry business today with both legs, arms & fingers all crossed!!! :?

The smoke is so thick here visibility is down to around a km but that is in the haze, clear would be around 500mtrs, we can just see Mt Warrigal in the haze and that is within a comfortable walking distance. The mountains are not visible at all. The sun through the smoke is creating a yellow glow but the solar has virtually shut down, we generally get some solar even when it's raining so that gives an idea of how thick the smoke is, it will take ages to get the smoke smell out of the house.

Hope all are safe and well out of the fire area and that your properties escape the fire, there are some very long fire fronts out there at the moment.

Michelle rang yesterday to say they are back in the house for the time being.

Sunday looks like being the 'make or break' day with temps forecast to be in the high 30's & if the wind is from the E/NE then that could see it all blown back at us.

That's sure stuffed up a lot of people's Christmas Holidays!
We don't know how lucky we are living in relatively safe areas.
Be good if all or most of the money sent overseas could be channelled into these areas now.
Stuff the others......... look after our own first!!!
