Re: 4 Months in Tassie
Hi Lesley Evandale is just to the south of Launceston, if you can, save that for February and time it for the Penny Farthing Championships, there is also a combined Tasmanian Chapter meeting of CMCA same weekend to coincide, shame I have to work that weekend. Westbury and Deloraine free sites are scheduled to close, don't know when though.

Thanks for the tips Chris. According to posts on Facebook, Westbury is already closed. WikiCamps confirms that. Haven’t heard about Deloraine though.

Re: 4 Months in Tassie
Leaving Launceston behind on Monday, we headed to Ulverstone and the Blue Wren RV Park for two nights. $10 per night unpowered + gold coin donation for water fill. 4 powered sites at $25 pn. By coincidence, our friends, Rick and Lea, were already there in preparation for having a roof sat dish installed on Tuesday.

4 Months in Tassie
We enjoyed our brief stay in Ulverstone and had a good drive around on Tuesday, noting things we wanted to check out for our return weekend from Dec 7.
Wednesday we headed west. As the weather forecast was predicting substantial rain for Friday and Saturday, we decided to head straight to Arthur River with the intention of doing the river cruise on Thursday, weather permitting. We set up camp at the Manuka Campground where we had the whole of our section to ourselves. $13 pn with flushing toilets in some sections and a drop toilet in ours.
Site 52 along the fence line trying to shelter from the easterly wind. Although light rain was predicted for today we decided to take the risk and do the cruise. It was beautiful weather all day and has only just begun to spit now.
This majestic white-bellied sea eagle gets a free fish every day but he needed a couple of passes to pick this one up.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Moving on tomorrow to do the Tarkine Drive camping somewhere along the way no no internet for a couple of days.
Cheers

Re: 4 Months in Tassie
Sorry I’ve been too slack to keep this thread up to date. We’re now into our last couple of weeks in Tassie. It has been great but the weather has not. I’m trying to get the blog up to date. If anyone is interested the link is in my signature. Only a week behind now. [emoji849]

You certainly have been having a great time and the pics have also been fantastic.

Thanks Dot. It has been great but I’m not a fan of the narrow, winding roads. Next time we will travel with a smallish motorhome. If it ever happens.

Re: 4 Months in Tassie
Almost at the end of our 4months in Tassie. Arrived at Forth for the allowed 2 nights. Spot a place between a caravan and a Toyota Coaster with plenty of room on each side. 95% set up and old mate from the coaster arrives to impart his wisdom that we are parked too close to the caravan on our off side. He ignored Erich’s greeting when we arrived and they stood and watched us unhitch etc. After his little spray I asked if he would prefer us to move closer to him. His reply “would‘t bother him”. So why did he feel it necessary to criticise us when we had almost finished setting up. When the owners of the van next to us returned I approached them to check how they felt. Couldn’t care less as they were leaving after swapping an empty gas bottle. Left to do our own chores to return and find a caravan parked closer to us than the one that left. This is the first time we have come across a nasty fellow camper. I guess we should feel lucky!
